Craig Uecker began photographing the woods and waters in his home state of Illinois as a young child. Armed with his trusty Pentax Spotmatic 35mm camera and a roll of black and white film, Craig would set off for a day of exploring near his rural home. He'd spend that night in his basement darkroom where he loved to watch his recent images magically appear in a tray of developer...

He has always been drawn to water. In his adult life he's been a professional fly-fishing guide in both Montana and Colorado. In Maine he managed the L.L.Bean fly-fishing schools for several years. As you can see from his images, this love of water (and fishable environs) has played a big role in Craig's photographic subject matter.

Craig currently resides in Freeport, Maine where he lives with his wife Deb, step children Nicole and Erik, golden retriever Madison and yellow lab puppy Brie.
